Pennsylvania Lottery Pulls in $1B in Annual Profit 15 Years in a Row

The Pennsylvania Lottery is happy to confirm that it was able to pull in more than $1 billion in annual profit for the 15th consecutive year. The latest windfall was recorded for the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2026, and saw sales expand for several key verticals. Among those were scratch-off tickets and draw games, which increased by 3% to $4.44 billion. Pennsylvania Lottery Continues to Bring in Steady Results For More Than a Decade However, as an individual segment, scratch-off sales have contracted a little, with the lottery noting that this has been an ongoing trend. Draw games at retail surged by 12.7% to $1.3 billion, but that mostly had to do with excitement surrounding the Powerball and Mega Millions. In total, the Pennsylvania Lottery was able to generate $849 million in sales for its online segment. Other areas that lost momentum in sales were Keno and Derby Cash Horse Racing, which fell by 2% to $45.9 million. However, like other segments experiencing a similar decline, the lottery simply stated that the products are organically fading away from player interest, as consumers focus on other experiences within the lottery ecosystem. Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko commented on the milestone and what it meant for the Commonwealth as a whole: “Reaching another $1 billion-plus year for programs that benefit older Pennsylvanians is an achievement worth celebrating. We’re grateful to our players and retailer partners for their continued support, and to our employees for the work they do every day to move the Lottery forward.” The lottery also noted that it had paid out more than $3 billion in traditional game prizes throughout the year, which is a 4% increase from last year. Lottery retailers statewide earned $245.9 million in regular commissions as well as $21.5 million in extra retailer incentives. The Pennsylvania Secretary of Revenue, Pat Browne, has welcomed this development and its significance: “Behind every Lottery ticket is a contribution to programs that help older Pennsylvanians live healthier, more independent lives. The Pennsylvania Lottery is unique in its sole mission to support older residents, and we are proud that Lottery proceeds continue to make a meaningful difference in communities throughout the Commonwealth.”
