Melco Resorts, women’s association launch school tour in Macau on bullying-awareness

Casino operator Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd and the Women’s General Association of Macau have launched an 11-performance school theatre tour aimed at raising awareness of bullying and supporting young people’s mental health. The production, titled “Invisible Bullying”, premiered in late September at Fu Luen School before about 250 teachers and students. According to Melco Resorts, the play draws on views and experiences gathered from young people and explores the perspectives of those bullied, the bystanders, and those doing the bullying. The organisers said the performances aim to help students recognise less-visible forms of bullying, as well as understand its effects and learn how to seek help. They also hope the tour will encourage discussion of mental health within schools. The tour is part of the “Feel Better Mental Wellness Programme”, launched in 2021 by the casino firm and the grassroots association. Melco Resorts said the wider programme has reached nearly 7,000 participants through about 1,500 activities to date. This year’s programme is scheduled to include at least 200 individual psychological support sessions, 12 mental health workshops, six parenting workshops and four film-sharing sessions, in addition to the school performances, per the announcement. Melco Resorts chairman and chief executive, Lawrence Ho Yau Lung, and the association’s chairwoman, Lau Kam Ling, attended the premiere. They said they hoped the production would help students identify bullying risks and find safe ways to seek support.
