Japan’s Sega Sammy Holdings Inc reported net sales of JPY212.58 billion (US$1.34 billion) in the six months to September 30, up 5.7 percent from the prior-year period, according to a Friday filing. Sega Sammy Holdings is the parent of gaming equipment supplier Sega Sammy Creation Inc, and an investor in the Paradise City casino resort in South Korea. The group also makes pachinko and pachislot products for the Japanese domestic market, as well as home entertainment products. The parent company posted a net profit of JPY10.93 billion for the April 1 to September 30 period, up 298.6 percent year-on-year. “Results exceeded expectations across all segments,” said the firm in an accompanying presentation. It added: “Existing businesses in gaming performed steadily”; while “sales were strong in pachislot and pachinko.” Six-month adjusted earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) were up 54.0 percent year-on-year, at JPY24.58 billion. The company’s gaming business recorded total sales of nearly JPY16.36 billion for the six months to September 30, up 91.1 percent year-on-year. Gaming-machine sales for North America and Asia in the six months to September 30 totalled 784 units, up 23.9 percent from the 633 units sold in the same period in the prior financial year. Nonetheless the gaming segment had an operating loss of JPY3.9 billion for the period. The firm stated: “GAN and Stakelogic BV, both acquired in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, resulted in higher sales and a wider operating loss compared with the same period in the prior fiscal year.” Sega Sammy Holdings also observed: “For the six months ended September 30, 2026, gaming machine sales, an existing business area, remained solid, driven by growth in sales of key series such as “Railroad Riches ” and “Super Burst”. A new title, “Bonanza Bros. Golden Heist” was launched in September, the company noted. Sega Sammy Holdings said it expects to achieve net sales of JPY510.00 billion for the 12 months to March 31, 2027, and a net profit for the financial year amounting to JPY32.50 billion.
