Najidi Storm suffers record loss at 1/33

Najidi Storm has become the shortest-priced loser in the history of British horse racing as it could not win at Goodwood, causing bookmakers to lose a lot of money as 10/1 outsider Wreck It Ronnie won the race. Najidi Storm was sent off as a 1/33 favourite in the three-horse race but lost to Wreck It Ronnie, which was ridden by Kieren Fox. This modification has updated the previous record that was made in 2023 when Doom was defeated by Karmology at Ripon. Wreck It Ronnie is partially owned by Phil Foden, an English footballer who plays for Manchester City. BOYLE Sports representative Brian O’Keeffe said: We’ve witnessed the shortest-priced loser in British racing history, but that doesn’t mean it was a good result for the layers. Najidi Storm might have been an ‘acca’ buster for a number of punters, but when one is put in that short, they’re often keen to look elsewhere. This time, their eye was drawn to the winner, Wreck It Ronnie, who was unfortunately the biggest liability in the race in our book. Paddy Power reported a similar outcome. Spokesman Paul Binfield saying: Racing history has been made in today’s opener on the South Downs, but winner Wreck It Ronnie was a loser in the book with punters taking a chance against the very short-priced favourite. The upset therefore created a rare situation in which a historic result for racing also translated into significant losses for bookmakers.
