Over the Rays' last six games, they own an 80 wRC+, .278 wOBA, and .111 ISO. Meanwhile, the Yankees have a 104 wRC+, .188 ISO and .735 OPS over their last six games. The Yankees need to finish the season strong heading into October, and it starts with going all in against their AL East rival, a team that typically owns them. Blue Jays vs Orioles: Orioles Orioles win probability: 53% Max Scherzer is back... to being bad. The old-timer sports a 5.74 ERA over his last three starts, along with a sub-12% strikeout rate. On the other end, Chris Bassitt has been holding it down over his last three starts, posting a 3.12 ERA while allowing just a 5.88% barrel rate. With how hot Pete Alonso has been as of late, expect him to get the Orioles off to a hot start against Scherzer. Nationals vs Tigers: Tigers Tigers win probability: 58% Detroit's bats are far too hot to fade at the moment, especially when the Nationals own a 91 wRC+, .680 OPS, and .147 ISO over their last 12 games. The Tigers, meanwhile, have posted a 131 wRC+, .797 OPS, and 13% walk rate during that stretch. Tigers or nothing. Cardinals vs Pirates: Pirates Pirates win probability: 62% Pirates or pass here, as a very hot Pittsburgh lineup draws Andre Pallante, who sports a 4.80 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over his last three starts. Meanwhile, the Cardinals' lineup owns a 72 wRC+, .598 OPS, and just a .093 ISO. Brewers vs Phillies: Brewers Brewers win probability: 44% Sure, Zack Wheeler is on the bump this evening for the Phillies, but these Phillies bats are ice cold, posting an 88 wRC+, .110 ISO, and 3.9% barrel rate over their last six games. The Brewers' bats have not been much better, but there is no reason to pay that much for an ice-cold offense when you can back one of the best teams in baseball as an underdog. Guardians vs Red Sox: Guardians Guardians win probability: 46% It saddens me to not be leaning with the national treasure that is Payton Tolle, but the Guardians have a few bats that feast on left-handed hitters, and this team is starving for an AL Central crown. Snagging this hot team as a dog is a must. Rays vs Yankees (Game 2): Yankees Yankees win probability: 55% Similar to why I like the Yankees in Game 1, they need this win over the top dog in the AL. Plus, with how cold the Rays have been, this is a great spot for New York to make a statement before October. On top of that, despite Drew Rasmussen's dominance across his last three outings, he has struggled more on the road, giving Max Fried the upper hand. Reds vs Braves: Reds Reds win probability: 37% The battle of the bads, as Brandon Williamson takes on JR Ritchie. Neither arm enters today with any respectable numbers, but Williamson is the one with better numbers over his last three starts, posting a 4.35 ERA, 5.63 xERA, and 1.16 WHIP. The Braves have started to heat up, but Ritchie is so bad, you have to fade the right-hander. White Sox vs Royals: White Sox White Sox win probability: 52% No team needs a good week more than this young, starving White Sox team. Maybe the fan base, too. But against the Royals this week, who are either looking to play spoiler or turn their attention to the offseason, Chicago has to step up. Despite Anthony Kay's recent numbers, he has been pitching very well, limiting hard contact and barreled balls. He draws a Royals lineup that has gone severely cold, posting just an 81 wRC+ over its last 12 games. The White Sox draw Daniel Lynch, who has been fine for Kansas City. If they can get to him early, it would be massive because the Royals bullpen is horrendous. On the year, it owns a 4.54 xERA and 1.37 HR/9. Marlins vs Cubs: Cubs Cubs win probability: 65% Very quick reasoning: Janson Junk is hot garbage. He sports an 8.18 ERA and 1.73 WHIP over his last three starts. Junk draws a lineup that owns a 136 wRC+, .367 wOBA, and .840 OPS over its last six games. It should be a bloodbath. Mets vs Rangers: Mets Mets win probability: 48% Neither Sean Manaea nor MacKenzie Gore has been holding it down well for his team, so backing the hotter lineup is the move, which happens to be the Mets. New York owns a 118 wRC+, .757 OPS, and 46.2% hard-hit rate over its last 12 games. Meanwhile, the Rangers have a 102 wRC+ and 26% strikeout rate during that stretch. Diamondbacks vs Rockies: Diamondbacks Diamondbacks win probability: 64% In what should be Kyle Freeland's last start for the Rockies, he will likely get demolished. The Diamondbacks are white-hot at the dish, owning a 115 wRC+, .775 OPS, and .171 ISO over their last 12 games. Freeland has allowed more than three runs per start this season. He will get lit up early. Angels vs A's: Angels Angels win probability: 50% Both lineups have a wRC+ under 70 over their last six games, so backing the better pitcher is the move, and Yusei Kikuchi has been very solid. He owns a 3.14 ERA over his last three starts while limiting hard contact and barreled balls at a decent rate. Trust the guy who got 14 hours of sleep last night. Astros vs Mariners: Astros Astros win probability: 44% I already love Yordan Alvarez to feast this evening against Logan Gilbert, who has been getting lit up by left-handed hitters as of late. Plus, he sports a 6.11 ERA over his last three starts while allowing a near-13% barrel rate. The Mariners' bats are cold, while the Astros' bats seem to be heating back up. Take the dog. Twins vs Giants: Twins Twins win probability: 56% Taj Bradley has been pure nails over his last five outings, owning a near-33% strikeout rate, a 3.41 ERA, and a 1.01 WHIP. Drawing a Giants lineup that has a 30% strikeout rate over its last six games, this could get ugly for the hometown team. Neither offense has been hot, so why not back the red-hot flamethrower? Padres vs Dodgers: Padres Padres win probability: 46% With how hot the Padres' bats have been lately and Dodgers right-hander Roki Sasaki struggling once again, the Padres as a short dog are the right side here. Over his last three starts, Sasaki owns a 5.48 xERA and 1.74 WHIP while allowing a hard-hit rate over 45%. He draws a Padres lineup that owns a 174 wRC+, .967 OPS, and .259 ISO over its last six games.
