Dale Tang, former FanDuel Canada Senior Commercial Director, has been handpicked by Midnite to facilitate the challenger operator’s first-ever expansion overseas. Launched in 2015 by Nick Wright and Daniel Qu, with the former holding the role of Chief Executive Officer, Midnite’s momentum has attracted a high level of attention from investors through significant funding rounds, and although the company is not public, it is safe to assume that it currently holds a high enterprise valuation. While the firm has not had a formal valuation, it secured $35m in series C funding at the start of 2026, following a $100m credit facility in October 2025 and a $10m series B funding round in April 2025. However, the brand has remained highly localised, building that growth only through its licences in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Appointing new leadership for Canada marks the first time Midnite has made a formal move outside Europe. Tang joining as Midnite’s General Manager – Canada, signals that the gambling brand is now eyeing international opportunities much further afar, tapping into North America to feed its ambitions of becoming a tier-1 global operator. “Midnite has established itself as a brand with a clear vision on how to deliver an exciting proposition for players. I’m looking forward to being a part of the team that helps establish Midnite as a responsible and trusted brand that resonates with Canadian consumers,” Tang said in a statement. Clock strikes Midnite in Canada Canada, of course, is ripe for the taking, with Ontario and Alberta currently the only two local markets hosting licensed online gambling – with the former launching in 2022, while the latter launched just this July. Still, competition will be fierce, especially in Alberta where 50 companies were already approved for a licence even before the market launched. SBC News understands that Midnite expects to gain a licence no later than January 2027. Regardless, Wright expressed confidence that Tang is the right person for the job to lead Midnite into these new fronts, no less due to his previous experience of doing the same with FanDuel.Wright added: “Dale’s appointment marks an exciting milestone in Midnite’s journey to disrupt the industry. The regulated Canadian market is a huge opportunity for us to expand beyond the UK and Ireland, and bringing Dale on board is a clear signal of our ambition to build a truly localised, next-generation sports betting and casino experience that puts player protection at the front and centre. “As we look to build Midnite into a next-generation tier-1 global operator, Dale’s experience, local insight and leadership puts us in a strong position for future growth.”
