Macau gaming tax revenue reaches $8.24B

Macau’s revenue from gaming tax grew 6.9% year-on-year to MOP66.17 billion ($8.24 billion) during the first eight days of August 2026, as per the newly published central account budget realization statistics provided by the Financial Services Bureau (DSF). This is compared to MOP61.88 billion ($7.71 billion) during the same period in 2025, constituting about 71.5% of the government’s total budget of MOP92.53 billion ($11.52 billion) assigned for gaming tax. Despite this year-on-year improvement gaming tax revenue during August declined by 8% to MOP7.83 billion ($975 million), compared to MOP8.51 billion ($1.06 billion) in August 2025. Gaming helped to generate almost all of the MOP66.32 billion ($8.26 billion) of Macau’s concession revenue through August, with the remaining MOP146.56 million ($18.3 million) coming from other public utility service concessions. The total revenue collected by the government during this period came to MOP77.77 billion ($9.68 billion), or 7.2% higher than in 2025. As such, gaming accounted for about 85.1% of the total government revenue earned in the period. Macau’s government spending reached MOP58.81 billion ($7.32 billion) during the first eight months of the year, with a resultant balance of MOP18.95 billion ($2.36 billion) in the central account. The figure in the balance is higher than the MOP15.01 million ($1.87 million) recorded in the same period of 2025, reflecting stronger overall government revenue despite the decline in gaming tax receipts recorded in August.
