Loto-Québec reported a 2.1% year-over-year increase in total revenue for the first quarter of fiscal 2026-27, as the province heads toward an election that could fundamentally reshape Quebec’s gambling landscape. (Image: Loto-Québec) According to the Crown corporation, it generated CA$782.6 million in revenue for the quarter (April 1 to June 29, 2026), up CA$16.1 million from the same period last year, while net income rose 3.6% to CA$398.1 million (up CA$13.7 million). Revenue, Net Income Rise Casinos were the strongest-performing segment, with total revenues of CA$337.6 million (up 4.4% year over year). Loto-Québec’s CEO Jean-François Bergeron attributed that performance to increased visitation, with the warmer weather coinciding with peak festival season. “As the fiscal year begins, we are continuing to build on our momentum and once again seeing higher results, thanks to the hard work of all our teams, who are developing our offer responsibly,” he said. “[The casino sector] performance attests to the relevance of the offer. We will continue to strive to offer a responsible, engaging and diverse entertainment experience.” Casinos Lead Quarterly Growth Lotteries generated CA$241.1 million in total revenues (up 2.1%), while gaming establishments generated CA$208.4 million (down 1.8%). Gaming establishments include video lottery terminals in bars and other licensed establishments, Kinzo, and network bingo. Online casino and online sports betting results are baked into the total revenue numbers – sports betting is part of the lottery segment, while online casino is part of the casino segment. Sports Betting in Spotlight Loto-Québec reporting referenced the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs, which featured a Montreal Canadiens run to the Conference Finals, and the World Cup as quarterly highlights. The province may be looking at a major shakeup to its iGaming model if the upcoming election plays out as polls suggest. According to the latest Leger poll released Tuesday (Sept. 22), nearly two-thirds of Quebecers say they want a change in government. The election is Oct. 5. Election Raises iGaming Stakes The Parti Québécois (PQ) remains in the lead at 29%, followed by the Le Parti liberal du Québec at 23%, then the governing La Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) at 20%. Both the PQ and Liberals have committed to taking the province down a different iGaming path, empowering the regulator to license and oversee all online gambling platforms in the province and opening the market to an Ontario-style competitive model, where Loto-Québec would be one choice among many.
