Flutter plans to stop Sky Bet Malta operations after one year of relocation from UK. Over 50 jobs will be cutted and the remaining functions will be transferred to Gibraltar. The number of Flutter employees in Malta exceeds 500, including Betfair International. The company will not fully withdrawal from Malta. This consolidation would mean Sky Bet and Sky Gaming would become part of the same country’s jurisdiction and under the newly-appointed MD of Sky Betting and Gaming, Neil Banbury. In 2024, Sky Gaming have moved its headquarters to Gibraltar. Banbury had become a part of Flutter on October after spending slightly more than 15 years with Kindred Group, where he also held the post of the chief commercial and marketing officer. The closure of Malta negates an important operation that took place back in November 2025. At that time, the relocation from the UK was believed to save Flutter dozens of million pounds each year. The company was not willing to comment on the development further than mentioning the general restructuring statement. Flutter announced about restructuring its businesses operated in UK and Ireland. The restructure follows a gaming machine tax increase in UK. The company already plans to cut around 1,400 positions in UK as Remote Gaming Duty rose from 21-40% in April 2026, while General Betting Duty on sports betting outside horse racing will increase from 15-25% in April 2027.
