After the first presidential run-off, Bolsonaro narrowly leads Lula, receiving 47.03% of the votes against Lula’s 45.16%. The second presidential run-off is set on 25 October. Anyway, none of the presidential candidates received enough votes to win the election at this stage. Flávio Bolsonaro said: I am very happy with the real possibility that, three weeks from now, Brazil will give a definitive answer by choosing a modern government. Although poles show Lula leading in opinions during the campaigning before elections, Bolsonaro is ahead. He might also gain advantage from support by some eliminated right-wing candidates in the second-round elections. In the region of Brazil where poverty is prevalent, Lula score high among poor voters as well as among Catholic voters. He is seeking to win the presidential race for the fourth time in his life since he already won elections in 2002, 2006 and 2022.
