Encore Boston Harbor, a Wynn Resorts property, is threatened by a worker walkout, with 1,350 union workers set to vote on whether to take action against the property unless a new collective bargaining deal is reached. Strike Action May Happen as Soon as September 1 if Union Members Authorize It They could walk out on the job on September 1, 2026, threatening operations at the facility, but first, a strike authorization needs to be reached. Workers are collecting votes on Wednesday and Thursday, August 19 and 20, before they can decide what to do next. The rules of the vote are simple – a majority vote supporting either option – striking vs not striking – would result in subsequent action. The vote is expected to generate an outcome in favor of the strike action, however, as Encore Boston Harbor’s workers have shown strong loyalty to collective action before, with 98% of members backing a similar move in 2023. The results from the current action will be announced on Thursday at Knights of Columbus in Charlestown at 545 Medford Street. It’s About Respect, Unions Previously Said In 2023, union members summed up their demands in one short statement: “It’s about respect,” with workers insisting that they deserve to be paid fairly and compensated justly for their work. Unite Here Local 26 and Teamsters Local 25, which represent the workers, are committed to securing better overall working conditions for their members, arguing that the company is in good enough standing to meet demands. Encore Boston Harbor is indeed one of the best properties run by Wynn Resorts, with the company generating about $846.9 million in revenue in 2025. Given the 2023 precedent, Wynn Resorts may be willing to negotiate rather than try to outlast the workers, as the company has repeatedly stated that it aims to provide its team members with a livable wage.
