Gaming supplier Zitro International has been granted a gaming-related vendor licence in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the firm said in a Tuesday press release. The permit was awarded by the federal nation’s General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA). “This milestone allows Zitro to participate in one of the world’s most promising hospitality and entertainment developments, as the United Arab Emirates continues to strengthen its position as a premier global destination for luxury tourism, leisure, and world-class experiences,” the company stated. It added: “Receiving the gaming-related vendor licence also marks another step in Zitro’s international expansion and reinforces the company’s commitment to working alongside regulators and operators in markets that value quality, long-term investment, and responsible growth.” Sebastián Salat, president for international at Zitro, was cited as saying that the licence would enable the firm to “offer products that have been conceived to meet the expectations of premium destinations” that align “naturally with the exceptional standards of this new generation of luxury integrated resorts”. The GCGRA issued its first gaming-related vendor licence in October 2024. So far, 23 companies have been awarded a gaming-related vendor licence in the country, according to the regulator’s website, which is yet to include Zitro. The GCGRA, established in September 2023, is the entity overseeing commercial gaming activities in the UAE. It is chaired by Jim Murren, a former chairman and chief executive of casino group MGM Resorts International. According to the regulator’s website, there is currently only one licensed land-based casino operator: the Wynn Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah, one the emirates of the UAE federation. The Wynn Al Marjan property is now due to open in September 2027, said Wynn Resorts Ltd during its second-quarter earnings call in early August. Wynn Resorts, the parent of Macau gaming concessionaire Wynn Macau Ltd, is developing the UAE scheme with local partners. The scheme’s total budget has increased to approximately US$5.7 billion, the company said during its second-quarter earnings call.
