SJM says Mid-Autumn outreach programme benefits circa 2,600 people

Macau casino operator SJM Resorts Ltd says its Mid-Autumn Festival outreach programme reached approximately 2,600 people during September, through visits to welfare organisations and households across the city. The company stated in a recent release that its volunteers visited 850 households between September 1 and 24, delivering gift packs and festive greetings. The programme involved “nearly 100 person-trips to visit various social welfare institutions and vulnerable groups across Macau”. Those reached included elderly people living alone, single-parent and low-income families, children, young adults, and people with special needs. SJM volunteers also visited organisations including the Macau Down Syndrome Association, Macau Special Olympics, and the Macau Association of the Hearing Impaired, per the announcement. SJM Resorts is the Macau operations unit of Hong Kong-listed casino firm SJM Holdings Ltd. As part of a monthly programme run with the Macau Holy House of Mercy, SJM volunteers visited Our Lady of Mercy Home, to take part in Mid-Autumn handicraft activities and games with residents. The company’s employees also joined young volunteers from Caritas Macau for a visit to Asilo de Betânia, where they staged musical performances and games for elderly residents. SJM said the activities were intended to encourage interaction between younger and older generations while supporting people in need during the festival.
