Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood Faces Lawsuit over Alleged Fall

Florida’s Seminole Tribe is facing a new premises liability lawsuit after a woman claimed that she had suffered serious injuries at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood. The plaintiff alleges that she suffered serious injuries after slipping on a liquid while thousands of fans were leaving the Hard Rock Live concert. The court must now determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and whether the casino was responsible. The Complaint Accuses the Seminole Tribe of Negligence Jeanne O’Grady, a Broward County resident, filed her legal challenge in Broward County Circuit Court on September 10, 2026. The case centers on an incident that occurred following a Hard Rock Live concert on May 2, 2025. O’Grady says she was working as a greeter as the event was ending, allegedly placing her in harm’s way. The complaint states that thousands of patrons exited the venue through the main exit and walked down a corridor adjacent to the casino’s sportsbook area before entering the gaming floor. According to O’Grady, the Seminole Tribe did not provide enough staff to control and monitor the crowd or inspect the walking surfaces as the mass of people dispersed. Patrons were allegedly allowed to carry open containers when exiting, making spills a foreseeable danger. O’Grady claims that her manager told her to leave with the crowd rather than assist elsewhere. The plaintiff allegedly then slipped on a liquid and fell. According to the complaint, casino employees rushed to the scene, helped O’Grady, and logged her report. She was then transported by ambulance to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. O’Grady Tried All Other Options to Resolve the Case The lawsuit claims that O’Grady’s medical bills to date had reached $136,884.90. Charges from Memorial Regional Hospital for an admission from May 2 through May 6, 2025 accounted for $128,541.90. According to the complaint, the plaintiff underwent surgery on May 3. O’Grady also demands more than $50,000 in damages, along with other costs, and requests a jury trial. O’Grady’s complaint alleges that the Seminole Tribe was either aware of or could have foreseen the potential danger. She first submitted a Gaming Patron Tort Notice to the tribe’s risk management department on June 24, 2025. However, Tribal First, the tribe’s third-party administrator, denied the claim on October 31, 2025, stating that the Seminole Tribe was not legally liable for her injuries. The tribe also rejected a workers’ compensation claim. While the Seminole Tribe benefits from sovereign immunity, certain tort claims can still be pursued in state court. Having exhausted all other options to receive what she claims to be justice for her injuries, O’Grady is now bringing the case to the public’s attention. The case remains at the pleading stage, and no finding of liability has been made.
