The number of jobs at Pennsylvania casinos contracted by 3.8% in the commonwealth’s 2025-26 fiscal year. For the hundreds of workers who lost their jobs, one Philadelphia casino is holding a job fair later this month. A stock photograph shows a blackjack dealer shuffling cards. Pennsylvania casinos cut almost 600 jobs during the state’s 2025-26 fiscal year, which ended June 30, 2026. (Image: Shutterstock) The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) recently published its 2025-2026 Annual Report. The 20th edition of the annual recap of the state gaming regulator’s activities and the gaming licensees it governs revealed that casino employment numbers dwindled during the 12 months. The 18 land-based casinos collectively employed 15,252 people, as of June 30, 2026. That represented a 3.8% decline, or a decrease of 598 positions, from June 30, 2025. Despite the state having one additional casino, as Happy Valley Casino opened in State College in April 2026, fewer people in Pennsylvania now call a casino their place of employment. Dealers were hardest hit, with the PGCB revealing that table game workers were responsible for 243 of the job cuts. Rivers Casino Job Fair Though some Pennsylvania casinos have looked to trim overhead by scaling back employment, Rivers Casino Philadelphia says it has roles to fill. On Monday, Oct. 19, from 5-7 pm, and Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 10 am until noon, Rivers Casino will conduct a job fair at its Events Center. Casino officials say on-the-spot job offers will be made for qualified applicants, but those with no experience are also encouraged to attend. Rivers has a variety of food and beverage positions, including sous chefs, cooks, food runners, bartenders, waitstaff, greeters, and managers. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. The casino says the positions come with health insurance, paid time off, free parking, tuition reimbursement, career advancement opportunities, and 401(k) benefits. During the 2025-26 fiscal year, Rivers Casino Philadelphia generated gross gaming revenue of $212.3 million from its 1,500 slot machines and 100 table games. That marked a 3.3% decline from the $219.5 million the casino won in 2024-25. Rivers Philadelphia says the job fair relates to new restaurants opening at the casino and the property’s push into becoming a premier destination for not only gaming but food, hospitality, and lodging. In late 2023, Rivers announced the Riversuites Hotel at The Battery Philadelphia. The 62-room all-suite facility is the result of a former power plant along the Delaware River being renovated into a mixed-use complex that includes apartments, office space, a lobby bar, rooftop pool, and outdoor pier. The Battery is a short walk from the casino, though a complimentary shuttle is also available. Dealer Positions The Rivers Philadelphia job fair won’t do much for the 243 dealer jobs that were cut over the past 12 months. Casino.org searched for active table game job listings across the commonwealth and found openings at numerous casinos, including Harrah’s Philadelphia, Mohegan Pennsylvania, Parx Casino Shippensburg, Hollywood Casino Morgantown, Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, The Casino at Nemacolin, and Happy Valley. Evolution and Playtech, leaders in remote online live dealer services for iGaming platforms, are also seeking interactive table game workers for their studios in Pennsylvania.
