The Okada Foundation Inc, the charitable arm of Philippine casino resort Okada Manila, has donated PHP20 million (US$324,916) to the Malasakit and Bayanihan Foundation Inc. The contribution is for humanitarian relief and educational-assistance work across the country, according to a recent press release. The donation provides “grocery packs containing food and hygiene essentials for indigent families, particularly those affected by natural and man-made disasters,” per the announcement. It also supplies “graduation grocery gift packs to underprivileged graduates” of state universities and institutions operated under the Philippines’ Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the document added. Okada Foundation president, James Lorenzana (pictured, third from left), said the partnership would allow the organisation to provide support to Filipinos facing different types of challenges. “Our partnership with the Malasakit and Bayanihan Foundation Inc allows us to reach Filipinos at different points of need, from families facing difficult circumstances to graduates preparing for what comes next,” he was cited as saying. “Through initiatives like this, we hope to contribute to stronger, more resilient communities and create an impact that extends well beyond the assistance we provide today,” Mr Lorenzana added. The Okada Foundation said its social development initiatives were focused on four areas: health, education, cultural heritage, and the environment. The organisation stated the latest partnership reinforced its commitment to education, while also extending humanitarian assistance to families and communities facing difficult circumstances.
