Boxing legend Mike Tyson, lately as famous for his fashion choices as his fists, is back in the headlines. He and his wife, Lakiha Spicer, are reportedly being sued for $2 million in London’s High Court, the Daily Mail reported. Medier Ltd Goes After Power Couple – Tyson and His Wife The media cited documents that journalists have seen, with Medier Ltd, owners of Rabona online gaming brand, filing the complaint against the couple. Spicer and Tyson are alleged to have breached a contractual agreement that would have seen them appear during the iGB Live 2024 gambling conference between July 16 and 19 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Medier Ltd stipulates that Tyson had agreed to participate in a promotional event for the company ahead of his highly anticipated bout with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. The fight was originally meant to take place on July 20, but was then pushed back to November 15, 2024. Tyson, Medier Ltd. said, backed out of all contractual obligations with the company, with the plaintiffs arguing that he accepted a rival $15-million bid from streaming giant Netflix instead. Tyson is said to have feared that if he attended the Amsterdam event, it could have breached his contractual obligations with Netflix, Medier Ltd clarified. Tyson was supposed to appear at the event and chat with four presenters – one of whom would have been dressed as a pigeon, share childhood stories, show boxing techniques on a mannequin designed to look like Evander Holyfield, and play casino games on Rabona’s websites. Netflix Is the Elephant in the Room However, Tyson and his wife disagree that they have breached the contract, arguing instead that Medier Ltd.’s interpretation of their contractual obligations extended far beyond the originally signed contract. The defendants argue that Tyson’s only obligation was to play games on Rabona, and nothing else. Medier Ltd. disagrees, arguing that after signing the Netflix deal, Tyson and his wife simply decided to renege on their agreement, as Netflix’s partnership provided a better value to them, which, argues the attorney, does not void their responsibilities under the original contract. Tyson reportedly received $190,000 out of the agreed sum, as it was payable in installments, but the plaintiff is now looking for a full reimbursement.
