The daily average of visitors to Macau during the first five days of this year’s October Golden Week stood at just above 184,100, showed official data. According to figures published by Macau’s Public Security Police, the agency responsible for monitoring the city’s immigration checkpoints, the city received an aggregate of 920,659 visitor arrivals in the October 1 to 5 period of the ongoing Chinese-mainland holiday season commonly called ‘October Golden Week’. The peak in the number of arrivals was logged on Sunday (October 4), at 210,325 visitors, a new record for single-day visitor arrivals since official statistics for the October Golden Week have been kept. October Golden Week is a major festive break for Chinese-mainland consumers and a peak trading period for Macau’s casinos. Mainland China is the main feeder market for Macau’s tourism sector. China’s State Council has designated this year’s holiday period on the mainland as running from October 1 to 7, encompassing China’s National Day on October 1. This year’s holiday season is one day shorter than the same period in 2025, when Macau welcomed just above 1.14 million visitors. The police did not supply a breakdown on holiday-period visitors’ respective place of origin. However, the majority of tourists for the aggregate of the first five days entered Macau via either the Border Gate checkpoint (436,072 arrivals); the Hengqin checkpoint (200,740 arrivals); or the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (125,210 arrivals). Separate information provided by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) indicated that of the 750,825 arrivals logged in the first four days of the holiday break, 650,313 were from mainland China. Another 70,184 visitors in the October 1 to 4 period came from Hong Kong, showed the MGTO data.
