Light & Wonder names Muthu Palanichamy to lead global systems business

Gaming equipment and content provider Light & Wonder Inc has appointed Muthu Palanichamy as senior vice president and general manager of the group’s global systems business. Mr Palanichamy (pictured), a 16-year veteran of Light & Wonder, assumed the role in August, according to a Wednesday press release. In his new position, he is responsible for the group’s product strategy, overall strategic planning, research and development, delivery and operations, and customer engagement. Since taking up the role, Mr Palanichamy has overseen nine “competitive systems replacements”, including deployments at several properties in North America, Light & Wonder stated. The company described the deployments as demonstrating “continued customer confidence” in the group’s systems portfolio. Mr Palanichamy has held a number of leadership roles at Light & Wonder, covering client services, operations, and systems research and development. Most recently, he was involved in advancing the company’s systems product strategy, and initiatives related to operational performance and customer engagement, per the announcement. Siobhan Lane, chief executive of Light & Wonder’s gaming division, said in prepared remarks: “Muthu brings a unique combination of deep technical expertise, operational experience and a strong understanding of our customers and their businesses.” She added: “Over the past 16 years, he has played a crucial role in the evolution of our systems business and has built tremendous trust across our teams and with our customers.” Mr Palanichamy said the company had built a “strong systems business” and a portfolio that continued to evolve in line with customers’ requirements. “I look forward to building on that momentum, deepening our customer partnerships and continuing to advance the solutions that help operators get more from their casino floors,” he added.
