Casino equipment and technology supplier Light & Wonder Inc has announced the first installation of its RapidPlay cashless payment system, which allows players to transfer funds directly at a slot machine using a personal mobile device. The system made its debut at Crystal Bay Casino in Nevada, in the United States, according to a Monday press release. RapidPlay is approved for deployment in Nevada, with expansion into other jurisdictions planned, subject to regulatory approvals. RapidPlay allows players to access funds directly at a slot machine using a personal mobile device. Players scan a QR code to transfer funds via open banking technology, without needing to download an application or use a casino loyalty card, the supplier stated. Light & Wonder collaborated with payment service provider Koin for the Crystal Bay Casino deployment. Muthu Palanichamy, Light & Wonder’s senior vice president and general manager for global systems, described the installation as a milestone in the company’s development of casino payment technology. “We’re proud to collaborate with Crystal Bay Casino to debut this solution and deliver a faster, more seamless experience for players while creating meaningful value for operators,” he was quoted as saying. Eric Roe, general manager at Crystal Bay Casino, stated: “Being the first casino to deploy RapidPlay reflects our commitment to embracing new technology that adds convenience for our guests.”
