Hann Foundation provides mobile blood-donation unit to Philippine Red Cross

Hann Foundation Inc, the corporate social responsibility arm of the Hann group, has given a “fully-equipped mobile blood donation vehicle” to the Philippine Red Cross Pampanga-Angeles City Chapter. Hann Foundation is the corporate social responsibility arm of Hann Philippines Inc, the developer of Hann Resorts in Clark, Pampanga. The vehicle was handed over at a ceremony at Hann Reserve in New Clark City, Tarlac, according to a press release. The foundation said the mobile unit should increase the Philippine Red Cross capacity to conduct blood donation work. It previously lacked a dedicated vehicle for such activities locally, limiting the number of donation efforts it could organise, noted the update. The vehicle has medical equipment and facilities to enable blood donation at local government units, schools and businesses, as well as in remote locations. It will be one of only six mobile blood-donation buses currently operated by the Philippine Red Cross nationwide, according to the announcement. Ana Christi Galura (pictured above), executive director of Hann Foundation, said the initiative was aligned with the organisation’s four areas of focus: health, education, cultural heritage, and the environment. “Despite the national and international issues concerning us all, let us remember that we do not need to be in business or politics to make a difference,” she stated. “By donating blood, we can be of help and an everyday hero to Filipino patients in need. We can help save lives,” she added. Philippine Red Cross chairman and chief executive, Richard Gordon, said the vehicle would strengthen the organisation’s preparedness for everyday emergencies as well as major disasters by bringing blood collection closer to communities.
