Fifth Street Gaming to Replace Paragon at OYO After Fake Hotel Listings Scandal

Fifth Street Gaming will take over the casino operations at Oyo Hotel & Casino Las Vegas, pending the usual regulatory approvals from Nevada regulators. Casino.org’s Vital Vegas confirmed the story with Fifth Street CEO and co-founder Seth Schorr on Wednesday (Aug. 19). (Image: Shutterstock) Paragon Gaming, the casino’s previous management license holder, decided to step away following a major public relations fiasco in which Oyo used non-existent hotels and AI-generated marketing materials to hide the property’s identity on major travel booking platforms. Oyo’s notoriously poor user ratings are widely believed to be the motivation.The fake hotel listings, for Palette and Collection O — both trademarks owned by PRISM — were taken down by the booking platforms after Casino.org and other national media outlets and Las Vegas creators exposed the scheme.According to Vital Vegas, “nobody’s risking their suitability or gaming license” over the scandal. Paragon Gaming has operated the casino at Oyo Las Vegas since 2016. The Las Vegas-based company was brought on to manage the gaming operations when the property was still operating as Hooters Casino Hotel, and it stayed on through its rebranding and reopening as Oyo in September 2019.Oyo’s first tango with trouble was a January 2025 cyberattack that exposed the personal information of about 4,700 casino and hotel guests and employees. The property parent company dismissed Highgate Hotels, a prominent New York hotel management firm, following the incident. Grand New Owner Fifth Street, based in Las Vegas, is best known as the company that manages the Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino in downtown Las Vegas. Though a newly formed Massachusetts company, Vegas Ventures LLC, reportedly agreed this week to purchase the Downtown Grand out of receivership, Fifth Street is expected to stay in place as its casino operator — if the deal receives court and regulatory approval. (Vegas Ventures intends to assume the property’s existing lease.) Oyo expects to remain fully operational during the next transition, and its parent entity, PRISM, reportedly has no plans to sell or demolish it.
