Controversial YouTuber Jack Doherty claims a newly inked six-month sponsorship deal with crypto casino Shuffle.com does not allow him to post on social media. The announcement, as expected, has already gathered many rumors and raised questions about whether the unusual agreement is a marketing stunt. Weird Arrangement Doherty, who has more than 15 million YouTube subscribers and 10 million TikTok followers, says the contract includes a clause that stops him from publishing content online for the duration of the partnership. The clause, no doubt, goes against the regular influencer marketing model, in which creators are paid to actually promote a brand through regular posts and videos on their channels and platforms. Not long after he signed the contract, Doherty released a video explaining the situation to his followers, claiming that he had signed the deal without thoroughly reading all its terms and conditions. Moreover, in his video, the YouTuber said he initially thought the restriction was a joke. According to Doherty, however, Shuffle.com is currently not joking around about it and is enforcing the clause. He also said he was working with his lawyer to resolve the issue, warning followers that the announcement might be his last social media post for a while. The irony of explaining a social media ban through social media has fueled speculation that the arrangement could be a calculated publicity campaign rather than a genuine contractual dispute. Marketing Stunt or Pure Strategy? As expected, industry observers have already wondered whether Doherty’s legal team could have truly overlooked such an important and unusual provision while negotiating the terms, suggesting the move is a potentially effective public relations stunt. The deal also comes amid controversy surrounding Doherty’s cryptocurrency token, $JACK. Namely, the YouTuber turned an initial investment of $2,400 into a profit of approximately $213,000 before the token’s value fell sharply. Therefore, a temporary break from public commentary could help him limit further controversy while reducing the risk of statements attracting further scrutiny. However, there is no confirmed evidence that this was the motivation behind the reported agreement. A Long String of Controversies Doherty is best known online for his crazy pranks, videos in which he confronts different people, and in-your-face displays of wealth, a type of content that has repeatedly attracted criticism. Some of the most noteworthy incidents that go beyond simple online disagreements include one in October 2024. Then, while busy reading messages and interacting with his viewers on a livestream, he crashed his McLaren supercar on a highway in Miami. One year later, in November 2025, the YouTube personality was put under arrest on misdemeanor drug charges. Whether the Shuffle.com agreement represents a genuine restriction or a coordinated promotional campaign, it remains to be seen. Either way, one thing is clear: the unusual terms have already generated plenty of attention for both sides of the deal.
