Denis Matthew Lanctot has filed a lawsuit against MGM Grand, alleging that a property security guard tackled him in his hotel room, causing him a mild brain injury. Undisclosed Sum of the Lawsuit The case dates back to July 5, 2024, and the events described involve security guards from the venue entering the women’s restroom on the ground floor, which prompted the woman to scream. Lanctot is now suing MGM Grand Hotel, LLC for negligence, negligent hiring, supervision, and retention, as well as assault and battery against unnamed security staff. The plaintiff also seeks punitive damages, lost wages, legal costs, compensatory damages, and more. Lanctot entered the restroom to aid his girlfriend, Tiffany Goldman, but security personnel ordered him to leave. The couple was then escorted to their hotel room and asked to gather their belongings and leave. It is at this point that things get odds accourding to Lanctot’s account. Security guards, supposedly several of them, rushed towards the plaintiff unprovoked and tackled him to the ground. MGM Grand has denied all allegations against the property and its staff. Lanctot Suffers Extensive Injuries – Company Denies Wrongdoing However, Lanctot had to be transported to the Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center by ambulance, and he was further treated and diagnosed with a dislocated left shoulder and a humeral shaft fracture, which led to a shoulder reduction under sedation. Lanctot then argued he had to undergo extended and continuous care as a result of the injuries suffered at the hands of the security personnel. Lanctot was also diagnosed with a Bankart lesion, a Hill-Sachs deformity, and a mild traumatic brain injury with post-concussion syndrome. Lanctot’s estimated medical costs, as presented by his attorney on September 3, 2026, amounted to $166,815.50. The case has so far hit procedural roadblocks, with the complaint still being transferred between courts.
