Ahead of the mid-November start, with an exact date still to be announced, officials with Peninsula Pacific Entertainment are scrambling to find seasoned casino employees. With just a little more than a month remaining before its scheduled opening, the Cedar Crossing Casino website lists positions covering all aspects of the forthcoming destination, from the casino and food and beverage outlets to the entertainment venue and the on-site STEM center. Dealers, Supervisors Most Needed Speaking with Iowa’s News Now, Cedar Crossing Casino General Manager Kim Pang said the property most needs dealers and floor supervisors. To attract experienced dealers, the casino is offering $2,000 sign-on bonuses. Supervisors are being appealed to with $2,500 bonuses. It’s always easier when you have experienced people working with inexperienced people, and they can help each other. The learning curve is a little better,” Pang said. “Those [bonuses] will entice people to want to join our property.” Pang said a robust staff allows the casino to offer more games, including the number of tables and variety of games. Pang said residents in Cedar Rapids and Linn County have been given preference in hiring, but as the opening approaches, anyone interested in a job is welcome. Along with dealers and supervisors, Cedar Crossing Casino is hiring slot attendants and technicians, casino hosts, marketing coordinators, and cage workers. The destination also needs food and beverage servers, cooks and chefs, and restaurant managers. Interviews are ongoing for security personnel, bookkeeping, information technology, and human resources. Pang said the Cedar Crossing Casino & Entertainment Center will employ more than 350 people. Casino Details Should it meet its hiring goals, Cedar Crossing Casino plans to open with 22 live dealer table games. The casino will include 700 slot machines, plus a sportsbook. The Event Center is a 1,500-seat venue advertising that attendees will be “never more than 79 feet from the stage.” Cedar Crossing Casino will additionally make history next month when it opens as the first casino in the U.S. to have an on-site STEM center. Known as the Compass Center, the 5,000-square-foot facility has its own dedicated entrance. The learning venue will commence with “Astronaut,” an exhibit that allows children to learn more about spaceflight. The post Want a Casino Job?
