Veteran casino executive Kelvin Tan joins RGB International board

Malaysia-listed gaming equipment supplier and distributor RGB International Bhd has appointed gaming industry veteran Kelvin Tan Hai Ching as an independent non-executive director. The appointment took effect on August 18, according to a filing by RGB International to Bursa Malaysia. Mr Tan, 59, is said to have more than 30 years of experience in corporate management and international marketing, specialising in the gaming, hospitality and entertainment sectors across Asia. The filing said Mr Tan had a direct interest in 940,000 ordinary shares in RGB International. He has been appointed as a member of the company’s nomination and remuneration committee, and audit committee. RGB stated that Mr Tan is currently executive vice president of international marketing at Macau casino operator Sands China Ltd, a position he has held since May 2015. In that role, he oversees VIP and junket operations and develops strategic market initiatives across Asia, per the Bursa Malaysia document. Prior to joining Sands China, Mr Tan was executive vice president of international marketing at what was then Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd from 2009 to 2015, now known as Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd. Earlier in his career, he worked for Venetian Macau Ltd, a unit of Sands China, from 2005 to 2008 as vice president of business development. During that period, he was part of the bid team for the Marina Bay Sands integrated resort licence in Singapore, according to RGB’s update. His previous gaming-sector roles also included chief marketing officer for business development at Legend International Resorts Ltd, chief operating officer at Fontana Leisure Park and Casino in the Philippines, and executive director at Club Waterfront International Ltd. He also served as a strategy advisor at Australian gaming group Tabcorp Holdings Ltd. Mr Tan is founder chairman of the Macao Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and holds leadership roles in several chambers of commerce in Macau.
