UKGC Suspends the Operating Licenses of BresBet and Bet St George

The United Kingdom’s Gambling Commission (UKGC) announced that it has suspended the operating licenses of two companies that are believed to have violated its rules. The operators in question include BresBet and Bet St George, which were encouraged to inform their customers about the situation. UKGC Suspends Two Licenses According to the UKGC’s official announcement, BresBet and Bet St George have both had their licenses suspended in the wake of Commission inquiries that revealed suspected non-compliance. The UKGC understood that the two gaming companies have violated the UK rules on social responsibility and anti-money laundering (AML). For reference, BresBet (operating license no 065252-R-340096-002) operates the bresbet.com website, while Bet St George (operating license no 067818-R-341699-001) operates betsgeorge.com. According to the UKGC’s official release, it is now carrying out a review of both licenses under section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005. The commission added that the suspension of the two licenses will remain in place until the two businesses reach a satisfactory level of compliance with the UK rules. The UKGC emphasized that both BresBet and Bet St George should keep their customers informed of any developments that impact them. In addition to that, the two operators must ensure that treatments are also expected to treat consumers fairly. The UKGC concluded that the suspensions are with immediate effect. While this process means that players will be temporarily restricted from playing, the suspension does not prevent either operator from allowing customers to withdraw their funds. The UK regulator encouraged players to contact the two operators if they have any further questions. The UKGC Continues to Take Action Against Non-Compliant Companies The suspension of BresBet and Bet St George’s comes shortly after the UKGC cracked down on QuinnBet Limited, slamming the Gibraltar-based company that runs the quinnbet.com website with a GBP 609,104 ($830,000) fine. The UKGC said that this fine was due to serious anti-money laundering and social responsibility-related offenses. Earlier, the regulatory body announced that it has levied a fine against Holland Park Leisure Limited, a company that operates three Adult Gaming Centers in Leicester. Per that announcement, Holland Park Leisure will pay a GBP 150,000 (roughly $202,000) fine for its transgressions, which included self-exclusion failings.
