Stake blocks Irish users following regulatory action

Ireland users can no longer access Stake after the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) took action. The regulation follows Ireland’s introduction of its new online betting licensing system and the GRAI’s increased activity against illegal gambling providers. Stake has reportedly blocked Irish customers from its platform this week. GRAI did not name any companies in its recent actions but The Irish Times has pointed out that Stake was the gambling operator involved. According to the agency, its efforts resulted in two big prediction markets and a big gambling platform being inaccessible to Irish users. The GRAI continues to work with these companies to make sure that Irish players get their deposits back. The authority looks to enforce the law over 100 companies in offshore gambling shops not allowed in Ireland, unlicensed gambling in pubs and illegal casinos. The Ireland action follows similar access restrictions facing Stake in Nigeria. The site was shut down in over 24 states of Nigeria because of regulatory measures against gambling sites. These measures of limitations raise more questions regarding the operations of Stake in the regulated and emerging gambling markets
