SJM Resorts Ltd, the Macau gaming operations unit of Hong Kong-listed casino firm SJM Holdings Ltd, says nearly 1,200 people took part in its Community Golf Fun Days programme, organised alongside this year’s SJM Macao Open golf tournament. The six-day programme, held at Anim’Arte Nam Van during October, was part of a series of community initiatives organised by SJM Resorts, title sponsor and co-organiser of the SJM Macao Open 2026. The tournament took place from October 15 to 18 at the Macau Golf & Country Club. According to a company press release, the Community Golf Fun Days programme featured a range of interactive offerings, including putting, swing practice and chipping challenges, aimed at introducing golf to residents and visitors of different ages. The casino firm also organised a number of activities for local students, providing opportunities to meet professional golfers and learn more about the sport. Nearly 70 students from local schools participated in two youth programmes held at the tournament venue on October 15 and 16. The activities included coaching sessions with professional golfers, among them five-time PGA Tour winner Kevin Na, Chinese-mainland golfer Zhou Yanhan, Hong Kong’s Matthew Cheung, and Thailand’s TK Chantananuwat. Separately, about 90 students from the University of Macau and City University of Macau joined behind-the-scenes tours of the tournament facilities, gaining insights into the organisation of an international sporting event. SJM Resorts also invited approximately 35 seniors from the Caritas Macau Ian Fai Integrated Senior Citizens Care Centre to participate in a walking activity at the golf course on October 16. The initiative, called “Walk Like a Champion”, was designed to encourage physical activity among older residents, and to provide an opportunity to experience the tournament venue, per the update. SJM Resorts said the community programmes were intended to encourage participation in sport and promote healthier lifestyles, while supporting Macau’s development as an international destination for sports tourism.
