Macau casino operator Sands China Ltd says its annual “Amazing Summer” series of family-focused activities attracted 600 participants this year. The programme, held during July and August, included 10 activities encompassing sports, arts, cooking, and workplace experiences for Sands China employees and their children. The company said the initiative, launched in 2018, has now been held for nine consecutive years, cumulatively attracting more than 5,100 employees and family members. This year’s programme was themed “Culture and Inclusion” and included a Summer Carnival in late July at the Cotai Expo at The Venetian Macao. The event featured interactive games based on the customs, cultures, and landmarks of various countries. Other family-focused activities included pickleball, basketball, arts workshops and cooking sessions, as well as workplace visits at the group’s The Venetian Macao, The Londoner Macao and The Parisian Macao properties. Wilfred Wong Ying Wai, executive vice chairman of Sands China, said the company placed “great importance” on employee wellbeing. “Over the years, we have placed great importance on our team members’ wellbeing by helping them balance career development and family needs through parenting education, family-oriented activities, and a diverse range of support measures and family-friendly policies,” Mr Wong stated. “These initiatives promote their physical and mental health and contribute to building happy families,” he added. Sands China said additionally that it had held, since 2021, 37 workshops on parenthood, in partnership with Macao’s Education and Youth Development Bureau. Aggregate attendance had exceeded 1,200 as of the end of June this year, the firm added.
