Robinhood Announces Prediction Market Partnership with Crypto.com, Gains Equity Stake

Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ: HOOD) announced today it is teaming up with Crypto.com and that company’s OG.com platform, which was recently spun out as a standalone entity, on prediction markets. (Image: Robinhood) The brokerage firm said it will “begin routing a selection of event contracts” through Crypto.com and OG.com. Robinhood adds the menu of derivatives that will be routed through OG.com will include “a selection of football contracts” and that arrangement starts today, or one day before the start of the 2026 NFL season. “Routing event contracts to multiple venues helps create a stronger, more diverse and resilient marketplace,” said JB Mackenzie, vice president of futures and prediction markets at Robinhood. “With football back and midterms fast approaching, we’re thrilled to team up with Crypto.com and OG.com for what is sure to be an exciting fall for prediction markets on Robinhood.” The company noted it will continue routing trades through a leading prediction market operator with which it’s had a long-standing partnership, ForecastEx and Rothera. Rothera is a joint venture between the trading house and market maker Susquehanna International Group. Which exchange Robinhood routes derivatives to depends on a variety of factors, including what event contracts are available at each exchange. Robinhood Taking Stakes in Crypto.com, OG.com Rumors of a potential Crypto.com/Robinhood prediction market partnership surfaced in late July, but what wasn’t revealed at that time was the possibility of Robinhood gaining equity positions in the cryptocurrency broker. Robinhood is gaining equity in both Crypto.com and OG.com. “The equity will be priced in line with the recent investment of Citadel Securities into Crypto.com Group at a $20 billion valuation,” according to Robinhood’s statement. Ken Griffin’s Citadel invested $400 million in Crypto.com in July at a $20 billion valuation. OG.com was recently spun off from the cryptocurrency trading house and it “includes a standalone $5 billion valuation,” notes Crypto.com. OG.com was launched in February as Crypto.com’s freestanding prediction market entity. “By separating from the core digital asset exchange infrastructure, OG.com operates as an independent company with dedicated capital allocation focused exclusively on scaling its direct consumer experience and deepening its institutional-grade, CFTC-regulated framework across sports, financials, and economic contract markets and margined derivatives,” said Crypto.com. Robinhood Prediction Market Expansion Continues With the industry rapidly expanding, prediction market partnerships are common, but the Crypto.com/Robinhood relationship is noteworthy because it joins two highly visible brands. It also arrives at a time when Wall Street is increasingly bullish on Robinhood’s prediction market exposure, which is widely viewed as one reason why the shares are up nearly 30% over the past month. “Prediction markets have become the fastest growing business in our history…I think we’re just at the beginning of a Prediction Markets supercycle,” said CEO Vlad Tenev earlier this year. The company said it is offering a wider variety of football event contracts this year while unveiling a dedicated midterm election hub, which it calls its “most robust election offering yet.” Political trading is one of the largest non-sports categories in the prediction market space.
