Powerball Top Prize Grows Past $200M After Two More Drawings Without Jackpot

The Powerball jackpot has continued to grow after players failed to win the top prize from the Saturday and Monday drawings. This doesn’t mean there were no winners, however, since a lucky player in Texas became $1 million richer after matching the five white numbers for the former drawing. Saturday Drawing Awarded $1M to a Texan The Saturday drawing had players competing for a $175 million jackpot with a cash value of $75.4 million. While a jackpot win did not occur, a Match 5 prize did. For reference, the winning numbers for the drawing that took place on September 5 were 15, 40, 47, 53, and 59, plus the red Powerball 9. The Power Play multiplier for that drawing was 2x. The drawing saw one lucky player in Texas match all five white numbers, which netted them a Match 5 prize of $1 million. If the player had had the Power Play feature active, they would have been eligible to redeem a $2 million prize instead. In addition to the seven-figure win, fifteen players matched four white numbers plus the Powerball to win tier-three prizes. These included eleven players who won $50,000 each, as well as four who won $100,000 thanks to Power Play. Monday Drawing Had a Single Winner of $150K The Monday drawing, on the other hand, was somewhat less eventful, with no Match 5 prizes happening. At the time of the drawing, the jackpot stood at $190 million with a cash value of $81.7 million. The Powerball Jackpot Has Surpassed the Mega Millions One As a result of two drawings without a winner, the Powerball jackpot has now reached $207 million with a cash option of $89.3 million. This figure means that the Powerball jackpot has effectively surpassed the Mega Millions one. For reference, the Mega Millions jackpot is currently standing at $193 million. In other news, Powerball recently awarded a single Match 5 prize in California. While this would have normally meant a $1 million payout, since the winner was based in California, they would get $185,595 instead.
