Amidst all the talking points around Artificial Intelligence that have swirled around in business, tech and media circles over the past few years, a recurring question arises – how can it go beyond the hype? Like many other tech firms in the iGaming space, EveryMatrix has been ramping up its use of AI. In a conversation with SBC Media at the company’s Copenhagen headquarters, Pablo Jansen, EveryMatrix’s Chief Technology Officer, explained its approach to AI use. “It’s about understanding what is behind the hype, understanding models – commercial models, local models,” he said. “Right now we are in a phase where we want to understand local models. “Local models can help us secure data sovereignty for our clients. Things can run local.” The proliferation of AI solutions and products just over the past year alone has been monumental. For the average person on the street, the most obvious example of this would be the proliferation of AI generated content on social media, or the increasing prevalence of AI artwork, for example. For companies like EveryMatrix, the proliferation comes in the number of AI solutions and models offered by different providers and platforms. The key difference for Jansen is the line between local models run on a client’s own platform, rather than the ones that run on remote cloud servers. “The more local the model, the more control our partner has over the data,” he tells SBC. “We really try to understand the different options within the AI hype, and fully understand the landscape.” EveryMatrix has been using AI extensively throughout its business – for trading, for quantitative modelling and pricing, development of its bet builder product, and assessing user data and preferences. So with EveryMatrix having embraced AI, where does the firm’s CTO expect things to go from here? “I think there will be more secure guardrails between datasets in the world,” says Jansen. “We are working towards a model where things will be hosted in our own data centres or in the cloud, where it is up to the client to control the guardrails they have chosen.”
