Philippine casino resort Okada Manila has partnered with the Philippine Mental Health Association (PMHA) for a campaign aimed at raising awareness of mental health issues, as part of a series of initiatives for its employees throughout October. The complex participated in the “Light Up Blue for Mental Health” campaign, marking World Mental Health Day on October 10, by illuminating its Crystal Corridor in blue for one hour. Employees were also encouraged to wear blue in support of the initiative. The campaign forms part of Okada Manila’s broader efforts to promote mental health awareness and wellbeing among its workforce, according to a recent announcement. “Mental health awareness becomes more meaningful when people feel they can speak openly, seek support, and look after one another,” said Jerome Sarte, senior vice president of human resources at Okada Manila. He added: “Through Light Up Blue and our other initiatives this Mental Health Month, we hope to help make mental wellbeing a more visible and everyday conversation.” The resort launched its October programme on October 1 with an advocacy session focused on encouraging discussions about mental health. During the month, Okada Manila will also offer onsite psychological consultations in partnership with Bofill Psychological Services Clinic, providing employees with access to professional mental health support. The initiatives are being implemented under “Okada Green Heart”, the resort’s sustainability and social impact platform, which includes programmes addressing employee safety, health and welfare.
