Despite having two Lombardi Trophies to his name, Roseman now finds himself at the center of the action ahead of the trade deadline. Eagles Could Trade Landon Dickerson, while Chiefs Emerge as an Option for Jordan Mailata It’s no longer a question of whether Roseman sells, but how extensive the shuffling will be. Based on what we are hearing, we anticipate Roseman will receive plenty of phone calls in Philadelphia. In a market where there are not many offensive lineman drawing interest, it stands to reason that Roseman is not done trading them. Multiple NFL personnel execs believe the Eagles will seriously consider trading guard Landon Dickerson, who has been able to play in recent weeks, while many are also wondering about veteran left tackle Jordan Mailata. “We both know Howie lives for this,” one GM told me. “He loves the action. But I don’t think he does that much. I could see him moving a D tackle.” As for a trade for Malaita, the same GM claimed: “That would be a blockbuster trade. You have to protect the quarterback, no matter who that is next year, and that’s a damn good tackle who has a lot of good football left to play.” The Chiefs may be the team to watch with Mailata, who has effectively a veteran-minimum salary and is signed through 2028. Kansas City’s head coach Andy Reid spent the first half of his Hall of Fame career in Philadelphia, and he has had a lot of upheaval on his offensive line. Now, suddenly free-agent running back Kenneth Walker isn’t on a record pace anymore and the Chiefs will be making multiple moves ahead of the deadline as we hear it. But, the price would have to be high. “Andy isn’t going to sit on his hands,” said one longtime personnel exec who knows Reid well. “He knows he needs help on offense.” Eagles Look to Move Dallas Goedert, Jordan Davis or Jalen Carter Corner Tariq Woolen is another name generating a lot of trade buzz, with Buffalo, Detroit and Chicago among his potential destinations. Cornerbacks are always in high demand across the league, and Woolen’s contract makes him an affordable trade option for most teams. Tight end Dallas Goedert is approaching the latter stages of his career and isn’t likely to attract much in return. However, he has plenty of postseason experience and could benefit a team who will be a playoff contender at this stage of his career. Executives have also long wondered whether the Eagles would be able to retain both former first-round defensive tackle selections Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter. But, Philadelphia won’t sell low on either if a deal presents itself. While we are generally skeptical of any player being labelled “off the market” or untouchable this time of year, the Eagles have made it clear to All Pro running back Saquon Barkley that he won’t be traded. That passes our sniff test and it’s difficult to imagine anything happening with him at this point that he isn’t comfortable with. The Eagles started amassing draft capital in the summer, trading AJ Brown for a 2028 first round pick. They already have a strong selection of picks in that draft, which could reduce the pressure of making further deals just for the sake of doing business before the trade deadline next Tuesday. Cowboys Remain ‘All-In’ as Jerry Jones Targets Another Trade I asked a personnel executive who has known Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for years, and has a keen understanding of how he operates, what Sunday’s disastrous loss could mean for the team’s approach to the trade deadline. Would another defensive collapse convince Jones that the problems are simply too extensive to fix, or would he press ahead with another trade, as he has been hinting at for weeks? “He’s all-in now,” the executive said. “There’s no going back now.” The Cowboys are the runaway payroll leaders in the NFL, and Jones is nothing if not a showman. Optics have always mattered in The Big D. He’s convinced his fanbase that he’s making power moves to improve his team, and he continues to sniff around the league to explore opportunities, even after securing corner Joey Porter Jr from the Steelers. The NFC East remains there for the taking. Neither the Giants nor the Commanders are juggernauts, and with Jones serving as both owner and GM, he tends to believe his roster is better than it actually is, and that his chances of winning another Super Bowl are greater than they really are. “If Jerry had already convinced himself to buy, then he’s going to buy,” a GM said. Adding an edge rusher remains Jones’s top priority, as we hear it, with Maxx Crosby, Khalil Mack and Josh Sweat all potential targets. We expect him to land one of the three. Jones has committed too heavily to improving this roster to come back without someone now. Bengals Could Strengthen Defense as Joe Burrow Builds MVP Case Would the Bengals be willing to add even more salary after making the out-of-character trade for Dexter Lawrence in the offseason? We wouldn’t be shocked if they found a linebacker or edge rusher to help them set them strengthen their run defense, particularly when it comes to setting the edge. They are vulnerable on the perimeter at multiple levels of their defense, and the Titans exposed it again on Sunday. On the other side of the ball, don’t look no, but here comes Joe Burrow’s MVP push. Colts Turn to Anthony Richardson as Cardinals Eye Carson Beck We told you the Colts were getting ready to give Anthony Richardson another run as their starting quarterback and that time has arrived. Whether or not they can get anything for over-paid starter Daniel Jones in the offseason remains to be seen. The Cardinals are the next team to watch in the quarterback carousel. With Gardner Minshew pulling off a wild comeback against Dallas over the weekend, he’ll probably get a little more time behind the wheel. However, we continue to hear that rookie Carson Beck will get a decent opportunity to prove himself in the second half of the season. Vikings Could Target Jonathan Taylor as Buccaneers Emerge as NFC South Favorites The Vikings are more likely than not to make a move for a running back. Quarterback Kyler Murray is what he is, a fact that is starting to sink in throughout the organization. Kevin O’Connell is not working any miracles here, and the only chance to run a sustainable and viable offense is to get more balance and create some explosive plays on the ground. With that in mind, few teams should be more motivated to land Jonathan Taylor from the Colts than Minnesota. Elsewhere, a few personnel guys we speak with regularly, who tend to be right about such things, believe that Tampa Bay is now the team to beat in the NFC South. A few weeks back, the Buccaneers were lining up as potential sellers, but we’d be surprised if they made any significant moves on the sell-side whatsoever.
