New Zealand’s government has set forth the protocol pertaining to online casino licensing in accordance with its auction of bids that will take place on 29th November. In order to operate in the market, the successful bidders are required to go through some thorough background checks. The successful bidders will need to submit five main documents to the Department of Internal affairs (DIA) which include their business plan, advertisements and marketing strategies, consumer protection policies, harm-prevention and minimisation policies, and compliance policies. The bidders will be providing evidence that their internal policies meet the standards set by The Online Casino Gambling Act 2026. The deadline for submission of applications will be October 23rd, 2026. There has to be independent testing for the online casino games and for the random number generators beforehand. The content which has already satisfied the UK standards and Ontario standards will not need to undergo retesting before the market commences. Whatever is newly launched will need prior certification. There are to be a total number of 15 licenses which will need to get issued and each brand will need to get a separate license.
