While the jackpot ended up surviving the drawing, one player came very close to winning it after matching all five white numbers, but not the Mega Ball. For reference, the winning numbers for the September 22 drawing were 7, 13, 26, 37, and 68, plus the gold Mega Ball 8. As mentioned, one player in the state of Colorado managed to match the five white numbers, which netted them a $2 million payout (2x multiplier). This was not the sole noteworthy win for that drawing, however, since several other players matched four white numbers plus the gold Mega Ball to win tier-three prizes. Here’s a breakdown of these wins: Four players won $20,000 each (2x multiplier) One player won $30,000 (3x multiplier) Three players won $40,000 each (4x multiplier) The Jackpot Nears the $300M Mark Since the Mega Millions jackpot remained unclaimed, it continued to grow, reaching $277 million for the Friday drawing. The prize is slowly creeping up toward the $300 million mark, although it has yet to be seen whether it will be able to reach this milestone before someone wins it. In any case, if someone wins the jackpot this Friday, they will have to choose between the $277 million annuity option and the $117.3 million lump sum. The next drawing is set to take place on September 25 (Friday) at 11 pm ET, as usual.
