Macau’s visitor tally in the first six days of this year’s October Golden Week reached just above 1.05 million, according to data published by Macau’s Public Security Police. The daily average for the reporting period was about 175,315 arrivals, still trending higher than last year’s average of 143,090, which set a record for this holiday break. October Golden Week is a major festive break for Chinese-mainland consumers and a peak trading period for Macau’s casinos. Mainland China is the main feeder market for Macau’s tourism sector. China’s State Council has designated this year’s holiday period on the mainland as running from October 1 to 7, encompassing China’s National Day on October 1. This year’s holiday season is one day shorter than the same period in 2025, when Macau welcomed just above 1.14 million visitors. The police did not supply a breakdown on holiday-period visitors’ respective place of origin. However, the majority of tourists for the aggregate of the first five days entered Macau via either the Border Gate checkpoint (497,273 arrivals); the Hengqin checkpoint (227,754 arrivals); or the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (142,395 arrivals). Separate information provided by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) indicated that of the 920,456 arrivals logged in the first five days of the holiday break, 797,532 were from mainland China. Another 85,716 visitors in the October 1 to 5 period came from Hong Kong, showed the MGTO data.
