Macau’s airport saw 5.2mln passenger journeys in Jan-Aug, up 5.6 pct y-o-y says exec

Macau’s airport handled 5.21 million passenger journeys during the first eight months of this year, up 5.6-percent year-on-year. That is according to Eric Fong Hio Kin, marketing department director at the hub’s operator, Macau International Airport Co Ltd (CAM), as cited by local media. He was speaking to the press on the sidelines of a corporate event on Friday. The latest update from Mr Fong indicated passenger journeys for the summer months of July and August totalled circa 1.31 million. That would actually represent a 1.5-percent fall from the 1.33 million in the same months in 2025, according to GGRAsia’s review of CAM’s air traffic database. Official flight passenger journey figures for July and August are yet to be released on CAM’s website. In the January 1 to August 31 period, the passenger volume for legacy carriers working out of Macau International Airport rose 3 percent year-on-year. There was 13-percent growth in passenger volume among airlines representing the low-cost sector, Mr Fong additionally noted, as cited specifically by local Chinese-language outlet Macao Daily News.
