Macau’s hotel establishments recorded an average occupancy rate of 91.3 percent during this year’s October Golden Week, up 3.1 percentage points from the corresponding holiday period in 2025, according to the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO). The average room rate, however, declined by 1.7 percent year-on-year, to MOP1,677.3 (US$207.5), showed industry figures cited by the tourism office in a Thursday release. The rate covered hotels, apartment hotels and budget accommodation establishments. Hotel occupancy peaked at 97.0 percent on October 2, the second day of a seven-day Chinese-mainland holiday break. October Golden Week is a major festive period for mainland consumers and a peak trading period for Macau’s casino and tourism industries. This year’s holiday ran from October 1 to 7, compared with an eight-day break in 2025. As previously reported by GGRAsia, Macau welcomed approximately 1.14 million visitors during this year’s holiday period. MGTO’s latest release put the preliminary tally at 1.143 million arrivals, with a daily average above 163,000. The tourism office said the daily average was up 15.5 percent from the comparable holiday period last year. Both average daily arrivals and the single-day peak reached records for the October Golden Week holiday period, according to MGTO. Arrivals peaked at 210,325 on October 4. The latest figures also provided a breakdown by source market. Chinese-mainland visitors accounted for approximately 972,000 arrivals, followed by Hong Kong with 119,000, Taiwan with 12,000, and international markets with 39,000. The daily average of mainland Chinese visitors reached approximately 139,000, an increase of 19.6 percent from the corresponding holiday period in 2025, said MGTO.
