The upcoming September 7 Labor Day celebrations could be a windfall for Las Vegas as local authorities expect an influx of visitors. To offset rising costs and inflation, some properties are betting on attractive deals and flashy marketing. Despite these efforts, a weekend in Vegas will generally be more expensive than last year, though not enough to significantly affect visitation rates. Vegas Offers a Room for Every Budget According to a recent Las Vegas Review-Journal study, a three-night stay for visitors to southern Nevada this weekend will average $269.66 per night. This figure is a small increase from last year’s Labor Day, when the nightly rate was $257.60. For budget-conscious travelers looking for a weekend on the Strip, only 11 properties are offering rooms for $100 or less. However, there are some deals to be found, especially in downtown Las Vegas, where prices are usually lower. The average rate for properties outside the Strip is $226.37, with the lowest prices at Rodeway Inn on Fremont Street and Sterling Gardens, costing $93 and $74 per night, respectively. For those preferring midweek stays, Golden Nugget Las Vegas recently launched a $199 all-inclusive package. The luxury sector remains well-represented. MGM’s Skylofts commands the highest price on the Strip at an eye-watering $1,571 a night. This is more than double some other high-profile offerings, such as $755 at Fontainebleau, $700 at Wynn Las Vegas, and $663 at Bellagio. The Skylofts stay offers visitors an unprecedented view of the Strip, luxurious amenities, and even a personal 24-hour butler service. Labor Day Brings Top-Quality Entertainment The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority expects 335,000 visitors to the city over the three-day holiday. If true, this forecast will reflect a 4.4% increase compared to last year’s Labor Day. The timing also helps, as this year’s holiday is the latest it can be in the month. Direct visitor spending is projected to hit $703.2 million, a steady 4.1% year-over-year increase. Labor Day visitors can look forward to a packed event schedule. On the musical side, Carín León brings his signature country-influenced banda and norteño music to Sphere Las Vegas. At the same time, Donny Osmond takes the stage at Harrah’s for a show-stopping musical spectacular. Other entertainment highlights include Mystère by Cirque du Soleil and a broad selection of Labor Day pool parties. With accommodations and entertainment options to suit any taste and price, Las Vegas is again positioning itself as a leading Labor Day holiday destination. With over 150,000 available hotel rooms, the city is ready to welcome new and returning visitors and demonstrate why it remains the leisure capital of the USA.
