Kangwon Land chefs prepare meals for 320 children in Jeongseon

South Korea’s Kangwon Land Inc says some of the group’s chefs and other employees have helped prepared 320 meals for children that attend community centres in Jeongseon. Kangwon Land Inc operates Kangwon Land, a resort with South Korea’s only casino permitted to accept locals. The complex is located at a former coal mining zone at Jeongseon County, a highland area three hours east of the capital Seoul. About 10 employees took part in a volunteer activity, organised with the Jeongseon Community Self-Sufficiency Centre before the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday – known locally as the Chuseok holiday. The volunteers helped cook and pack meals that were delivered to seven children’s centres in the area, Kangwon Land Inc said in a recent press release. The ingredients included potatoes from Jeongseon and other produce grown in former coal-mining areas, including Taebaek, Yeongwol and Samcheok, per the update. The casino firm said the purchases also supported local farmers. Kangwon Land Inc’s chief executive, Kim Do-gyun, said the company would continue initiatives aimed at providing practical help to the local community. The company said it has worked with the self-sufficiency centre since February 2025 on food donations and volunteer activities around holiday periods and other occasions.
