Interblock appoints Marco Balliano as COO, president for EMEA region

Electronic table game (ETG) specialist Interblock announced on Thursday the appointment of Marco Balliano (pictured) as chief operating officer and president for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), effective from September 1. In his new role, Mr Balliano is responsible for leading manufacturing planning, quality, procurement and service operations. Mr Balliano is based at Interblock’s facility in Mengeš, Slovenia, although he will also “spend significant time” in the Americas and Asia-Pacific region, according to Thursday’s announcement. He previously held senior management positions previously at several home-appliances companies, including Haier Europe Group, Candy Group and Whirlpool Europe, stated the announcement. Interblock’s recently-appointed chief executive, Kay Oswald, said in prepared remarks: “Our products have always won on the floor, and our customers tell us that the experience around them matters just as much — lead times, spares, service response.” The CEO added: “We want that experience to be every bit as strong as the product itself. Marco joins us to help carry that standard through every part of what we do, and we’re delighted to have him with us.” The release also cited Mr Balliano as saying: “What struck me about Interblock is the pride the teams take in the product and how close they are to their customers. That’s a strong foundation and we’ll build on it together, continuing on the path this company has set and raising the standard as we grow.”
