GLI gains regulatory listing in Uzbekistan for gaming product testing

Gaming Laboratories International LLC (GLI) says it has been officially listed by the Uzbekistan regulatory agency responsible for gaming as an accepted testing and certification laboratory in the country. The recognition by the National Agency of Perspective Projects of the Republic of Uzbekistan (NAPP) means gaming operators and suppliers can use certification reports from the testing and certification specialist when seeking to introduce gaming products to the Uzbekistan market, according to a Tuesday press release from GLI. The firm said Uzbekistan’s regulated gaming market was entering its “operational phase”, with four licences already issued across two operators. GLI described Uzbekistan as an emerging gaming market in Central Asia. Lucas Zavarise, GLI’s government and regulatory affairs manager for Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA), said in prepared remarks: “Uzbekistan is on track to become a key regulated market in Central Asia and GLI is proud to be named among the first testing laboratories whose certification reports are accepted under the new framework.” He added: “The NAPP leadership wants to ensure the growth of gaming unfolds in a controlled and sustainable way, and GLI is pleased to apply our global regulatory experience as Uzbekistan and the wider Central Asian gaming market continue to develop.” GLI also said its representatives had met NAPP officials earlier in August to discuss the country’s new regulatory framework and how the gaming technology testing and consultancy group could support the market’s longer-term development. The testing company noted that some elements of Uzbekistan’s technical framework were “still being established”, and said it remained in dialogue with NAPP as the regulator worked to refine the framework.
