Grand Korea Leisure Co Ltd (GKL), an operator in South Korea of foreigner-only casinos, says it is hiring 58 people, including marketing staff to cover several markets in Asia. The company announced on Tuesday the successful candidates from its 2026 recruitment exercise. The intake includes people for marketing positions focused respectively on the Japanese, Chinese and Thai markets, as well as casino dealer roles. Grand Korea Leisure’s latest recruitment effort includes jobs for people with disabilities and for military veterans, under programmes serving those groups, said Tuesday’s press release. Other successful candidates were selected for positions involving either legal work, office administration, information technology, computer operations management, information security, or facilities roles. Grand Korea Leisure runs three foreigner-only, Seven Luck-branded, casinos. Two are in the capital Seoul, one of the venues being Seoul Dragon City in Yongsan. Its third is in the southeastern port city of Busan. The group is a subsidiary of the Korea Tourism Organization, which in turn is affiliated to South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The casino firm had initially sought to recruit 66 people across the various categories, with a total of 1,485 applications received. That represented an average competition rate of 22.5 applicants for each available position, according to the company. The casino dealer category accounted for the largest number of positions available, with GKL seeking 40 people for such roles. A total of 439 applications were submitted, the company said. The 58 successful candidates are to undergo nine weeks of training at Grand Korea Leisure’s human resources development centre, running from August 24 to October 23, before being assigned to their respective departments. The programme is to include training in casino-related skills, including table-game dealing, as well as mandatory occupational safety and health instruction. The new recruits will also receive customer-service training, including techniques aimed at managing the psychological demands associated with customer-facing work. The programme additionally includes volunteer activities and on-site practical training. The company saw its net income rise 6.2 percent year-on-year in the second quarter, to nearly KRW18.02 billion (US$12.7 million), on sales that grew 19.3 percent from a year earlier, to KRW120.45 billion. The firm declared an interim dividend of KRW60.00 per share, due to be paid on September 10.
