The Nederlandse Loterij has taken legal action against Skyhills and its affiliates, alleging that they have permitted Dutch players to engage in gambling activity without the required license. The complaint argues that Skyhills N.V., which operates from Curaçao, is neither licensed by the country’s Gaming Authority (KSA) nor entitled to offer gambling services to Dutch players on its platform. According to the Nederlandse Loterij, such a situation makes it possible for consumers to gamble without the supervision provided by Dutch laws. Thus, the unlicensed operators diminish the ability of their licensed competitors to earn profit fairly. Nederlandse Loterij is suing Skyhills as the third operator in a series of investigations and consequent lawsuits initiated by its management. Nederlandse Loterij CEO Arjan Blok said: They can gamble there completely unprotected, with all the associated risks. That is unacceptable. That is why it is good to see that, following our first step, the Skyhills site went offline immediately. The present case against Skyhills is likely to encourage the Dutch authorities to take more action against the unlicensed operators.
