UK bookmaker BetGoodwin is weighing the option of an initial public offering and a listing on London’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM), a move that can give the firm a value of around £80 million. The company’s intentions coincide with major gambling companies, which have been experiencing stock prices decline and are under mounting tax pressure as well as regulatory uncertainty. BetGoodwin selected Allenby Capital investment bank to help it prepare for the possible flotation. According to reports, around 20% of the company’s shares held by its present owners, CEO Julian Head and COO Ben Head, can be sold. Goodwin Racing’s financial position improved as well. Its cash reserves reached £6.08 million in 2024, which is a significant increase from previous versions. If the new value, £80 million is confirmed, it will demonstrate investors’ desire to invest for smaller gambling businesses seeking access to public markets while larger operators struggle with market and regulatory pressures. BetGoodwin’s reported IPO plans contrast with the performance of several major gambling companies listed in London. The forecast for the industry is being influenced by the imminent tax hikes. Remote Gambling Duty increased from 21% to 40% in April 2026, while the General Betting Duty is planning to rise from 15% to 25% in April 2027. Further alterations continue to worry the companies, especially amidst the rumors concerning the adjustments in the Machine Games Duty. New higher taxes can give additional pressure on margins of operators and impact the investors’ decisions regarding their values in gambling companies, especially those that are based in the UK. Despite the news about appointing Allenby Capital and expected valuation of 80 million pounds, the flotation of BetGoodwin is still not confirmed.
