Gemini Space Station, a Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss-owned digital currency brokerage, has unveiled a new tie-up with Apex Fintech Solutions, a leading fintech company. Under a newly signed letter of intent, Gemini’s Gemini Titan subsidiary will become the exclusive regulated venue for crypto event contracts distributed through Apex’s Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) to Apex’s brokerage customers. The Two Companies Intend to Work Together The official announcement states that this agreement will see all brokerages that offer crypto event contracts through Apex’s FCM use Gemini for execution and clearing. This will effectively position Gemini as the go-to regulated venue for crypto-based predictions markets accessed through Apex, the announcement clarified. In addition to that, Gemini will also enhance Apex’s flexibility to team up with companies focused on other prediction markets categories, such as sports, economics, and finance. The agreement maintains Gemini’s ongoing momentum and comes in the wake of another development, which saw the Gemini Olympus subsidiary secure a CFTC Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) license. This license effectively enabled in-house derivatives clearing and settlement for Gemini Titan. Last year, Gemini Titan was named a Designated Contract Market (DCM) after receiving an official CFTC license, allowing it to foray into the fast-growing prediction markets sector. Since then, Gemini has been eyeing further strides within that space. Gemini Insists Upon Its In-House Philosophy Gemini’s chief executive officer, Tyler Winklevoss, commented on the partnership with Apex, saying that it aligns with his team’s in-house philosophy. Leveraging more than a decade of experience building and operating a regulated platform for crypto, a new and emergent asset class, we deliberately chose to build our predictions platform in-house. We believe that predictions are the future of markets, and this strategy allows us to expand our offering and open access to valued partners like Apex as demand for event contracts grows. Tyler Winklevoss, CEO, Gemini Apex’s global head of digital markets, Travis McGhee, also weighed in on the partnership, saying that it is all about “building the bridge between traditional finance and what’s next.” Our brokerage clients get regulated access to crypto event contracts without having to build the plumbing themselves. That’s the Apex model. Travis McGhee, global head of digital markets, Apex Fintech Solutions The two companies noted that the agreement has yet to be finalized and that more details will be revealed soon.
