Gen Zers are among the most gambling generations out there, turning to sports betting and prediction markets not only for fun, but also as part of a dubious financial strategy. As debt has climbed – not necessarily due to gambling – Gen Zers are also among the most likely to ask AI to help them find a way out of what often appears to be a crushing debt, according to a new study. ChatGPT Will Help You Hash Out Your Financial Strategy A poll from National Debt Relief and Wakefield Research indicates that people who fall in this generation are open to chatbots helping them sort their finances and give them practical advice on how to better manage their income, as they are keen to start slashing the financial burden they face. “The data shows younger Americans are willing to seek help with their finances, but where they turn for that help is changing,” said Cathleen Bell, vice president of customer research & insights at National Debt Relief, in the official press release detailing the poll’s findings. The reason Gen Zers cite is that these chat models are often judgement-free, and they find it easier to confide in the AI-powered chatbots. Gambling Still Persists as a Debt-Resolving Counter-intuitive Solution However, this behavior is not the only thing that Gen Zers do to try to sort their debt. As many as 65% are actually regular gamblers and specifically cite a desire to get rid of their debt as the reason why they do that. Millennials are actually not too far behind, with 49% of the generation gambling to try and sort debt – at least a part of it. Gen X are next with 39%, with boomers turning out to be the most conservative – 19%. However, the numbers are slightly rearranged when looking at how many people seek help from chatbots to help them sort through debt piles. Millennials are actually the most likely to seek help – 69% of the generation, with 64% of Gen Zers next. These generations tend to confide in the chatbots and ask them how to sort through financial troubles, including debt and budgeting better, as well as spending their money more smartly. 63% of Millennials said that they felt better talking out their financial issues with a computer – 53% for Gen Zers.
