ADI Predictstreet, FIFA’s official prediction market partner for the 2026 World Cup, is facing scrutiny after blockchain analysis linked approximately $108 million of its $167 million in trading through late September to connected cryptocurrency wallets. Although it has raised questions about the volume of the trading indicating independent consumer trading, blockchain analysis does not prove that any manipulation occurred. It is reported that the blockchain analysis has shown that a network of 795 wallets accounted for almost 100% of the total trading volume on the platform that was registered as of the end of August 2022. According to the analysis, a single cryptocurrency address funded the wallets, which were also the recipients of a small number of transaction fees. According to the blockchain analysis, the wallets traded with each other. The network was discovered by three students from Harvard University and confirmed by companies involved in blockchain analysis. During the World Cup, two wallets were involved in trading for the amount of more than $80 million over hundreds of markets before the transactions begin to decline. FIFA named ADI Predictstreet its official prediction market partner for the 2026 World Cup. The platform reportedly paid more than $150 million for exclusive advertising rights associated with the tournament. The findings have raised questions about the platform’s trading activity and the effectiveness of its monitoring safeguards, although the analysis has not established wrongdoing.
